Sojourning Strength

Sojourning for the Savior

What do suffering sojourners need most? Strength, not subtracted suffering. Encouragement, not ease. A greater, not a lesser, longing. A stronger, not a weaker, drive. This, our heavenly Father reveals to us, fitting us for His glory and our greatest good. He who eternally loves us knows more and knows better. How else will the citizens of heaven show the worth of their King and the hope of His kingdom? If the pains and pleasures of this desert world dominate our hearts, how then will the world see in us the worth of Christ? If our sojourn is easy, how then will Christ be shown mighty? This is not to discount the immeasurable comfort and love our gracious heavenly Father gives to us through our sojourning trials. Rather, it is to remind our forgetful hearts of our purpose. We sojourn not for ourselves but for our Savior.
