The Justifying God

The Doctrine on which the Church Stands or Falls

Justification by faith alone is the doctrine on which the church stands or falls. This was first articulated by Martin Luther, who observed it with his own eyes. It was the central controversy of the Protestant Reformation. This session describes the course on which Providence placed Luther and his awakening to the doctrine of justification by faith alone. It was a road of unlearning mysticism and scholasticism in order to learn biblical truth. The convergence of key factors orchestrated by the almighty, invisible hand of God produced thunderous effects. The heart of the gospel was once again revealed and proclaimed as a clarion of glory to God and “good news” to sinners. Justification by faith alone was recovered. The church once again rose to stand in the glory of the gospel. May we steward this history well for Christ’s sake and His church.
