Treasuring God - Part 1

Treasuring God - Part 1

If true righteousness is emphatically an affair of the heart (Matthew 5:21-48), then true religion is about heart affections (Matthew 6:1-18). Both are to be God-centered if they are to be true. The human heart belongs to God without rival. With these thoughts ringing in their ears, Jesus directs His hearer’s attention from the virtuous aim of righteousness to a penetrating application of the affections and ambitions of the heart—from the three pillars of Judaism to the highest delight and reward of a Godward soul. This sermon seeks to give voice to a passage that powerfully speaks of treasuring God above all earthly treasures.
