Trustworthy Treasure - Part 1

"Trustworthy Treasure" is the title because the text set before us is in continuation of our Lord's teaching on treasuring God in contrast to treasuring the temporal, insecure riches of this present world. Christ once again proclaims the same truth as before, but this time from a different--even opposite--angle. Our hearts are where our treasures are, and therefore if our treasures are insecure, transient, and subject to ruin then so are our hearts. Treasuring such things naturally produces anxiety. Treasuring God defeats anxiety. The key to the passage before us is Christ's call to our hearts to see that God alone is our trustworthy treasure--a treasure that we can freely pursue with all our hearts completely free from anxiety.
