He who was crucified and buried, now stands vindicated with all power and authority. Matthew concludes his masterful testimony and living portrait of Jesus Christ with selective brushstrokes. He tells not all there is to tell, but only such as accentuates His theme. All duty is directed to be in response to the grace and glory of Christ. Christology is the ground of the church’s commission. Disciplizing all peoples to honor all that Christ commanded is the necessary conclusion to who He is, as now revealed. The accent and exclamation of the Gospel of Matthew stresses that all belongs to and is for Christ. Indeed, may the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified in and through His church.
