All who are justified by faith in Christ have assurance of peace with God. This is Paul’s opening proclamation as he moves us into a new section. Paul has shown that all are corrupt and culpable (1:18–3:20), but that by faith in Christ a sinner can be set right with God (3:21–4:25). Now, in chapters 5 through 6, he expounds upon the glories of life in Christ. Justification by faith alone has definite consequences. This section begins by celebrating the consequences of justification and thereby exulting in the assurance of having peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
