All who trust God in His gospel of promise are guaranteed glory in Christ through the Holy Spirit. This is Paul’s main point at the beginning of Romans 5. It speaks thoroughly of New Covenant hope. It also unmistakably extols the triunity of God and emphasizes that “salvation belongs to the LORD” (Jonah 2:9). As the saved sinner’s only boast is in God, so his final certainty of future glory rests in God, whom he trusts. This section begins by celebrating the consequences of justification and exulting in God as the one who guarantees our future glory.
