From the fountain of justification by faith flows the stream of confidence in Christ. We are called to rejoice in God and the assurance of final salvation because of His love demonstrated in Christ crucified and risen. The momentum of this celebration is both advanced and applied in what follows. Paul at once, in one challenging step, takes us both deeper and higher in christological confidence. Here we are called to see on a larger scale why the justified can be so certain that they will be saved from wrath to live in glory with Christ. Here the person and performance of Christ is compared to Adam in order to magnify Christ and multiply our confidence in Him.
