Like the Son in Holiness

With His cross on the horizon, Christ presses His likeness into His own. If they are to bear His image, they must begin where He began—humility. This is first and most foundational to Christlikeness. Indeed, we are called to become like Him who became like us to save us from our sin. Now He rearranges His teaching vignette to show what the humble in Him value. Views lead to values. This passage builds on the foundation of the last, graphically illustrating the extraordinarily grave seriousness of sin—both in soliciting and succumbing. Divine holiness colors the scene. We see that Christ-centered humility leads to Christ-centered holiness. Here we have the call to be like the Son in holiness.
