The Coming Messiah
Malachi is the last book of the “Minor Prophets,” and throughout these minor prophets, Yahweh has been promising, because of his covenant-keeping, steadfast love, to deliver and save his people. Even after the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem, Malachi teaches the people that they still need a mediator and they still need a king. Therefore, Malachi speaks of an Elijah-like messenger who will proceed the the coming of the Messiah and the inauguration of the Messianic Age, in which all of the Old Testament expectations and promises will be fulfilled.
