The Condemnation of the Chris

Let There Be Darkness

One of Christianity’s greatest conundrums is captured in this scene. It is written in bold type with the ink of irony. The Almighty has given himself to be arrested. Now, with grossest guilt, injustice is justified. The unrighteous convicts the Righteous, criminals condemn the Judge. Here, irony speaks as the instructor and breathes enigma in every line. Everything is in the wrong place: authority, righteousness, guilt, testimony, evidence, verdict, outrage, etc. Yet, this dark scene is filled with light. It serves as a climax of revelation to this point. Jesus is the Christ, revealed here in enigmatic glory.
