Daily Dying

Daily Dying

Dietrich Bonhoeffer famously said that “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.” Taking up one’s cross in following Jesus is not a means of a Christian’s justification but it is a mark of a Christian’s sanctification. In fact, Christ calls upon His followers to take up their cross daily – making it a defining characteristic in the life of His disciples. In a world that is comfort-obsessed, self-exalting and experience-driven, Christ’s call of cross-taking is a radical, counter-intuitive, and counter-cultural notion. However, that radical call leads to a radical reward for the life that is well-spent all to the glory of God. Christian, have you heeded our Master’s call to daily die to self for the sake of His name? It is essential to who you are as one who claims that Christ is your Savior and your Lord.
