The Arrest of the Almighty

Let There Be Darkness

Christ draws nearer His cross. He is treading in the dark shadow of death. As He steps, a marvelous interchange is revealed. Emphasis on His divine and human natures alternates that we might behold Him as both Shepherd and Lamb, God and man—Immanuel. Now, His cries in Gethsemane still echoing, He takes His steadfast stand as the powers of darkness come arrayed against Him. Let there be no mistake: the One who suffers is sovereign. The One who is betrayed and arrested is Beloved and Almighty. This passage reveals still more insight into the remarkable person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
