The doctrine of Christ is the locus of revealed glory and grace. The standard for the elucidation of all other revealed truths in Scripture centers on this singular point: the incarnation. All which is revealed about God and man either prepares for or is inferred from this grand mystery of godliness (1 Timothy 3:16). Not the first, but certainly one of the most central theological questions to be asked is captured in the words of an eleventh century scholar, “Why the God-Man?” It probes the mystery of Christ and through faith seeks a measure of understanding the necessity behind the enfleshment of God the Son. Why must Jesus be both truly and fully God and man? This is a most worthy consideration for all who love Christ, who delight in His glory and rejoice in the heart of His gospel.
