Helping families, couples, and individuals apply biblical truth to overcome the challenges of life
Our goal in providing biblical counseling is to help you meet the challenges of life in a way that will please and honor the Lord Jesus Christ. It is our desire to lovingly assist all who are willing to work toward a biblical solution that seeks to glorify God through personal growth and sanctification. Our efforts to promote these goals will include encouraging, edifying, exhorting, equipping, and instilling hope.
We believe that the Bible provides thorough guidance and instruction for faith and life. (2 Peter 1:3 and Romans 15:4) Therefore, our counseling is based only on scriptural principles rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. If you seek counseling from Trinity Bible Church, we want you to know that all counseling will be conducted in accordance with a careful study of the Scriptures. The Scriptures will be the authority in all cases. If you are not sure that you will be interested in biblically-based counseling, you may first attend one or two sessions to discover what biblical counseling is like. If you are unwilling to use the Bible as the final authority and are unwilling to do the homework assigned, sessions will be terminated.
It should be understood that biblical counseling will involve giving scriptural teaching and making practical application of the same to each individual. The counselee is held fully responsible for how he implements that counsel.
Counseling - Not Professional Advice
If you have significant legal, financial, medical, or other civil questions, you should seek advice from another independent professional. Although some of the pastoral or lay counselors of this church may be licensed in other fields, such as medicine or psychology, they will not practice as professionals but as biblical counselors. Our pastoral and lay counselors will be happy to cooperate with such advisers and help you to consider their counsel in the light of relevant scriptural principle.
Our counselors are not infallible, nor do they pretend to know all there is to know about biblical teaching and its applications to life, but they are well equipped and competent to help people change. They will make a point to differentiate between God's commands and their suggestions.
