Healing is a Parable

Healing is a parable. It tells a story that is much larger than itself. It speaks in the language of power and experience—bearing witness to and substantiating the trustworthiness of extraordinary promises. The gospel is extraordinary. Its promises are vastly far-reaching—immeasurable is the goodness and gain won by Christ’s atoning death for us. This message focuses on the last two verses of Matthew’s first passage that details Christ’s healing miracles (8:1-17). It explores the link between the gospel and healing, considering more specifically Matthew’s reference to Isaiah 53:4 and the relationship of sin and sickness.
