Passover
One event marks the focal point of Jewish history. More than any other, this once-for-all act of God dramatically depicts redemption in its most defining form. For millennia, it has been relived in the annual celebration of Pesach—Passover. It is central and yet a shadow. It powerfully prefigures its substance, foretelling the mystery of the gospel. The crucifixion of Christ is a gospel of such great glory that symbols are necessary to explain it in the language of prefiguring time and events. This sermon looks at the substance through the symbol to stand in greater awe of its glory.
