Set Apart for Christ
Having greeted the beloved of God in Rome, Paul expands His introduction as he explains his intentions. Never was a letter’s prescript more profound. The centrality and all-encompassing, life-permeating significance of God is felt in every line. Despite any possible speculation, Paul has been set apart for Christ. This is evident in what he writes, how he writes, and why he writes. His heart for the beloved of God betrays God’s heart. Taken as a whole, this passage implicitly yet impressively furnishes a model of orientation for all Christians.
