Victimless
As the darkness deepens more light is revealed. It is all quite paradoxical, aimed at inspiring faith in Christ apart from and even against appearances. The narrative is presently centered on Christ’s trials, yet the failures of Peter and Judas have been interwoven into the storyline. In this passage, we are met with Judas’ arresting remorse in hopeless despair. But the story is less about the dark fate of Judas than about the bright faithfulness of Jesus. This strange scene adds to the testimony of Christ, showing Him as the true Prophet and righteous Lord. Betrayal does not victimize Jesus.
