Addressing Hate
In this passage, our Lord presents the sixth and final contrast of feigned versus true righteousness. It is a grand conclusion to His two-fold thesis, namely that He has come not to abolish but fulfill the Law and the Prophets and that true righteousness exceeds that of the highest external religion. His concluding lesson is love. Its call is for every child of God to emulate Him in holy love, as a crowning capital of true righteousness, for He is a worthy and deserving Father.
