Relating to One Another as Sinners
This message seeks to unpack Christ's masterful illustration of haughty eyes--eyes that are quick to see faults in others while being blind to faults in self. These are the proud eyes of the self-centered, revealing the disposition of the self-righteous hypocrite. Nevertheless, discernment is not sacrificed on the altar of false humility, and thus this passage deals with both self-confrontation and the Christ-centered way of confronting sin among one another. The call to humbly appropriate criticism is implicit and important to the whole. The importance of both humility and holiness are underscored in order to make much of Christ.
