God's Mercy Justified
God rules over all persons and powers according to the glorious purpose of His own will. God is thus absolutely sovereign. His acts put His nature on display. Without a clear and correct view of God and self, we will never truly see the glorious wonder of God’s mercy. Paul has justified God’s mercy and justice in the statement, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” Now he shows that it is outrageous to charge God with injustice for acting in mercy. The attributes and acts of God are stoutly defended as God’s mercy is justified.
