Striving together to make much of Christ is a pursuit of joy. Deep, satisfying joy that makes its boast in the Lord. Life together then becomes emblematic of the gospel itself. The church becomes not only a communion of belief but a fellowship of love. Old patterns are put off and new patterns, after the likeness of Christ, are put on. The next three one anothers are responsibilities stated in the negative, the corollary of which may be best approximated as humble joy—an indispensable key to making much of Christ for God’s glory and our joy.
