Godly Response to Persecution
Suffering as Christians in humble faithfulness to Christ is a recurring theme in 1 Peter that is present in each chapter of the epistle. Peter here addresses persecution directly, along with the Christian’s appropriate responses to it. In these verses he presents three admonitions of how to respond when suffering for doing good: have no fear of your persecutors, be prepared to gently explain the motivation for your good behavior, and throughout maintain a good conscience. These comprise a powerful witness to a critical and unrighteous world.
