God’s Prevailing is Love

God prevails over what He wills. And when it comes to the Bible’s teaching on predestination, God’s prevailing is love. Love—as an intention, as an invitation—is not enough for our salvation. God’s love must prevail over and against our native inclinations and passions. Predestination does not deny salvation for the one who wants it, it guarantees it for the one who doesn’t. In this session, we review key points from the study as a whole and then turn to John 6 to hear the Savior thunder some of the most explicit, pride-crushing words regarding human inability. God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. The contrast is between the proud self-sovereignty of man and the prevailing love of God.
